Therapy in Ashland, MA

Professional Counseling for Adults

Finding the right therapist is one of the most meaningful decisions a person or family can make — and when that therapist is located in or near your own community, the barriers to consistent, effective care are significantly reduced. Elizabeth Handley, LMHC, DCMHS has been providing professional therapy and counseling in Ashland, Massachusetts for 16 years. Her practice, Blue Brain Training, is located at 217 West Union Street in Ashland — offering a private, professionally appointed, and genuinely welcoming environment for those who are ready to take the first step toward meaningful change.

Whether you are an adult navigating anxiety, depression, or a life transition, a parent worried about your child’s behavior or emotional health, or a family looking for a calmer and more connected home, Elizabeth brings a rare combination of clinical expertise, national recognition, and deep personal investment in every client’s progress. Her approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and always centered on the individual and family in front of her.

A Therapist Rooted in the Ashland Community

Ashland is a close-knit MetroWest community where local reputation is earned over time through consistency, results, and genuine relationships. Elizabeth has spent more than ten years building exactly that kind of practice, one that clients trust because of her credentials and professional relationships.

Residents of Ashland and the surrounding MetroWest communities of Framingham, Hopkinton, Holliston, Sherborn, Natick, Dover, and Milford choose Blue Brain Training because they want a therapist who is both clinically exceptional and genuinely accessible. Many clients have noted that knowing their therapist is part of their community — not an anonymous name on a panel — makes the process feel safer and more sustainable from the very first session.

For those who cannot travel to the Ashland office, or who prefer the flexibility of remote sessions, Elizabeth also offers telehealth therapy through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform — available to clients throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

What to Expect: Starting Therapy in Ashland MA

Many people who contact Elizabeth’s practice share a common experience: they have been thinking about reaching out for a while, and the decision to finally do so comes with a mix of relief and uncertainty. Elizabeth understands this. Her intake process is designed to move at the client’s pace and to prioritize comfort and clarity before depth.

The first session is a conversation — not an assessment battery or a form-filling exercise. Elizabeth begins by listening. She wants to understand what is happening in your life, how it is affecting the things that matter most to you, and what you are hoping will be different. From there, a collaborative plan is developed that is specific to you or your family’s actual goals.

Sessions are typically held weekly, particularly in the first four to six weeks, as consistency during the early phase of treatment accelerates progress. Elizabeth tracks outcomes collaboratively with each client, adjusting the focus and pace as needed. The goal is always meaningful, durable improvement — not indefinite maintenance.
